_photography

In my photography the emphasis is mainly on portraits, cityscapes and thematical

photography (within series or report like work for various publications and websites).

But I don't limit myself to just one or a few disciplines. Once you start looking you can't

switch off your eyes. And it doesn't stop at the boundaries of a genre.

And that is the core of my work. Searching and experimenting constantly. Everything I

see or register in an photo I use while directing studio shoots and vice versa.

It happens that an image is shot and ready in 2 seconds; it also happens that I spend days

preparing and days behind the computer, putting every little detail in order._

I've a background in both art history and marketing. And although that is both a somewhat

peculiar combination as it is an unusual background for a photographer or a designer, both are

very important for my approach. I look at a project from a structural, marketinglike point of

view on one side, but at the same time in a very instinctive and intuitive manner. And on that

thin border beautiful things often appear.

_graphic design
In my design work too these different angles show themselves. Again photography has an

important place within my designs. Central is the search for a balance between an image and

the message and the perfect way to let them emphasize one another. Sometimes it's reached

through harmony; sometimes rather by contrast and pushing the limits. In any case, every

detail is the result of reason and logic. I ask myself constantly: why is this text there? What

function does this photo have? Is it stronger another way?_

I live in Amsterdam, but I often work elsewhere. In the Netherlands, but often abroad.

Recently in Londen, Berlin, Paris and New York; for commisioned work and sometimes free

work.

New places and new kind of work provide an open mindedness and the energy and freshness

that come with that are spectacular and can hardly be begotten another way.
